An attendant is someone who assumes responsibility for the safety of children, while maintaining order and supervising the children’s loading and unloading into the assigned vehicle.

DUTIES:

As a driver’s attendant, your duties are very important and you ensure the safety of student and driver. You will have to:

  • Help students load in/out of their house; Help the students in/out of the school
  • Ensure students are well behaved
  • Loading/unloading wheelchairs
  • Knowledge of special needs passengers
  • Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator
  • Supervise use of seat belts, harnesses, or car seats by students
  • Use provided technology to sign students in/out of their assigned school
  • Ability to stay calm during an emergency

Other RequirementsFollowing successful hiring process, you will have to complete Act 126 course online and then attend the Philadelphia’s School Board in person training

TRAINING:

School run attendants are not required to hold college degrees; however, they must complete required Philadelphia School District approved training prior to the start of their first run
